Problems getting started with blink_app

Hi Forum.

New to LOGI-Bone and to Beaglebone Black I am trying to run the blink_led_app, as a first fumbling step. I have two non-working scenarios; a) the Ubuntu image from ValentFx wiki running from an SD card and b) BBB Debian image running from the internal EMMC. Grateful for any help or suggestions.

Boards
LOGI-Bone R1.5.1
Beaglebone Black Wireless A5

a) Ubuntu image from ValentFx wiki
Unzipped and transferred to SDcard by means of dd. Then starting from SDcard with held boot button this image won't complete its startup. The blue 4-row leds start to blink but stops at a solid light at led no 3 (usr2) and then nothing happens. No USB serial and no network, and no WiFi. This is with or without cape attached.

b) The BBB Debian image provided by Beaglebone.org.
Flashed to the EMMC this kernel boots as expected and connects to USB network and serial, fine with and without the cape. I cloned the GitHub repository at  https://github.com/fpga-logi/logi-apps and the one at https://github.com/fpga-logi/logi-tools and ran make, the programs I have used run fine, but no blink on any LED on the cape, close but no cigar.

Some outputs from the command-line
